MAKER: Tsuta family, Yajiro kokeshi & toy craftsmen

CONDITION: Unused. Two small gouges in the wood on the top edge of the base of the train. You can see two small light spots in picture two.
NOTES: Just as kokeshi craftsmen, this trade is handed down from generation to generation. The Tsuta family consists of the father Sakuzou (d1957 @ 66), son/brother Mamoru (d2009 @ 81) and Fumio, who is currently in production.
Daruma sits on three sections of the otoshi game and the mallet as well as four more sections are in the front. In addition, cleverly incorporated are 4 toy tops. Tops are still very popular in Japan. The train bed and wheels are done in a very classy stain and varnish style.
This model is still currently in production, however, it is of simpler design now. Only two tops are included, the train has a flat bed (this one is curved to hold the pieces) and instead of incoporating the mallet into the design, it now goes through Daruma to secure those pieces.
