NAME: Yajiro traditional Japanese kokeshi pair

MAKER: Minao Sato

SIZE: 14-1/8" (35.8cm), the red doll may be a fraction smaller

CONDITION: A few minor dents on the black doll and a 1/2" roundish spot on the lower right side of the head with scratches or scrapes. The red doll has a similar round "scraped" spot on the mid front as well as a few minor dents and dings. There are also a few very tiny water spots the back and a small water spot on the top of the head.

Both heads have hair line cracks. The center of the wood is off center of the doll's mid point. The back doll has one crack, the red doll has 6 including one that runs down to eye level on the far left side of the face. The natural tendency of wood is to crack from the center out.

NOTES: Mr. Sato was born in 1933.
