Yajiro style Japanese traditional kokeshi pair made by Takashi Kamata. They measure approximately 9-3/8" tall with a head diameter of 2-7/8" and a base diameter of 1-5/8".
Yajiro kokeshi usually have large heads with circular bands painted atop and a red spot in the center. This is called a beret. The torso shape and design varies tremendously.
The condition is fair. There are some dents on the faces and paint blurring water marks. Their center circle atop the heads were blackened with magic marker and words were written in ballpoint pen on the back of one doll's head. I have since been able to lighten it up a bit with a pencil eraser (non-abrasive). Fading is very minimal.
The problems are not too noticeable from the front and they still display well.
