NAME: Yajiro traditional Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Hisashiro Niiyama

SIZE: 12-1/4"

CONDITION: There is a small area on the back of the head with a few deeper than normal dents. Elsewhere on the head are a few other dents, nothing major. Towards the back bottom is a 1/4 x 1/16" gouge in the wood. Heavy fading of the greens and purples and as well as some of the reds.

NOTES: One of the older dolls in this collection.

Mr. Niiyama was born in 1942 and passed in 2008 at the age of 66.

The little tuft of hair at the forehead is made up of individual "hairs". May be a Niiyama family "trademark".
