Yajiro Traditional Kokeshi, 11-7/8"

NAME: Yajiro traditional Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Yukio Ozeki

SIZE: 11-7/8"

CONDITION: One mid sized dent on the back of the head and on the bottom edge and a few minor to small dents elsewhere. There are several areas with pitting, on the lower right side of the face (minor), the upper backside and near the base in back. Additionally, there is a hairline crack extending out from the center of the wood (natural wood flaw) which is just right of the doll's center as well as fading of the greens.

NOTES: Older doll in this collection, and an excellent doll.

The current status of Mr. Ozeki is unknown as he is not listed on the current registry of traditional kokeshi artists. Mr. Ozeki was trained by Fukutarou Niiyama who passed in 1965 at the age of 66 so Mr. Ozeki would have learned his trade in the 50's to early 60's at the latest.
