  • Yajiro Traditional Boy on Horse Push Toy

NAME: Yajiro traditional Japanese wooden horse with boy, old fashioned design, original gift box

MAKER: Tsuta family, Yajiro kokeshi & toy craftsmen

SIZE: 6" (15.5cm) tall, 5" (12.5cm) long

CONDITION: Unused, mint

NOTES: Just as kokeshi craftsmen, this trade is handed down from generation to generation. The Tsuta family consists of the father Sakuzou (d1957 @ 66), son/brother Mamoru (d2009 @ 81) and Fumio, who is currently in production.

This is a great toy! The design is of past times. It looks a little "crude" and is done totally in wood (some glue) with wooden pegs to hold the wheels in place as well as an all wood mechanism. When pushed along, the horse's head moves from side to side and up and down.
