NAME: Vintage creative Japanese kokeshi of a very large Kappa, on a stand, MIB

MAKER: Stamp on sign post

SIZE: The kappa is 8-5/8" (22cm)

CONDITION: This collection is basically mint in box. There may be some age related issues and will be so noted. Most of the boxes show their age and may be warped, torn or have split corners.

A twig to the right of the kappa may represent it's fishing pole and may have once been longer.

NOTES: A Kappa is a Japanese mythical creature known to be mischievous and troublemakers. They lives in water (river or water imp) and have a hollow cavity atop their heads holding water that gives them their strength. It is said that should you come across a mischievous one, bow deeply as the Kappa will return the bow, spilling the fluid and become so weak that it must return to the water.

The kappa will end up shipping at the 2 pound rate when packed.

The owner of these fabulous vintage kokeshi had purchased them from all over Japan and then stored them in their original gift boxes for all these years (50's/60's). Great find with some unusual dolls!
