NAME: Japanese folk craft pair of a crane and turtle nodder on a stand

SIZE: The stand measures about 2-3/4" x 1-1/8".

CONDITION: Light soiling

NOTES: The stand is made of cryptomeria wood. The crane sits in a nest. They may be made out of nut shells. The turtle's 4 legs, head and tail all nod and are made of bamboo.

Both the crane and the turtle symbolize good health, good fortune and especially longevity. In Japan, folklore says a crane lives one thousand years, a turtle, ten thousand.
