NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi
MAKER: Yuji Okamoto (Usaburo Family)
SIZE: 10.75" (27.5cm)
CONDITION: Excellent with one tiny dent on top left side of sleeve.
NOTES: Name translates as "Dream". Having a 3-D nose is always an indication of a higher end doll as it's more work (carved instead of lathed). The hair is carved all the way around the head and the flowers are carved as well.
Usaburo is the family business name. Mr. Yuji Okamoto was born in 1948 and was the eldest son of Patriarch, Usaburo. He started creating kokeshi at the age of 22 (1970) and is an award winning artist.
