Sato Yajiro Kokeshi, 12" - Award Winning!
Sold
BACK IN STOCK! Yajiro style Japanese traditional kokeshi by 3rd generation kokeshi craftsman, Hideyuki Sato of Kijidokoro-Sato.
This doll measures 12" tall with a base diameter of 2-3/4" and weighs 1 pound 11-1/2 ounces.
There are three important kokeshi competitions in Japan every year. The largest is held in May. It includes all Japan, and all types of kokeshi. Over 1,000 dolls are examined. This doll won the prize "Miyagi TV Production Prize" this past May, 2006.
The condition is new, however, there is a 1/4" dent toward the base of the head in the back. Some early problems with shipping may have been the cause. There are also two natural wood flaws (knots) on the back with tiny bits of wood missing along the grain in one area.
The picture is a stock photo. The doll you receive will vary slightly from the picture as each doll is hand made.
Beautiful doll!
