Narugo Traditional Kokeshi, Akiyama, 11-7/8"

NAME: Narugo traditional Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Chuichi Akiyama

SIZE: 11-7/8"

CONDITION: Very large vertical dent on the forehead and multiple small dents on the front but none of these are too noticeable. A 1" hairline crack can be seen on the right side from the base up. Looking at the rings on the bottom, you can see it is the center of the wood. The wood's natural tendancy is to crack from the center out. Another 3/4" hairline crack on top of the head. Probably the same issue but hard to see because of the paint.

NOTES: Mr. Akiyama passed in 1984 at the age of 70 years.
