NAME: Narugo Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Signed on the bottom. SIZE: 10-3/4", diameter at the base, 2-1/2"

CONDITION: Some age spots on the head, a few small scratches on the forehead and minimal paint fading.

NOTES: Narugo dolls have a solid, secure columnar body that curves in slightly towards the middle, curved bangs with "sidelocks" (not called sideburns) and red designs radiating out from the tuft of hair atop the head. Because of a unique technique used to attach the head to the torso, the dolls "squeak" when the head is turned.
