NAME: Modern creative Japanese Kokeshi Container, Stand, Signature Board and Box

MAKER: Usaburo Okamoto

SIZE: 7" tall, 4-3/8" head diameter, stand is approximately 7" x 5-1/4". The weight is a hefty 1-1/2 pounds (considering the doll is hollow).

CONDITION: Small red smudges on the face, otherwise in great condition.

NOTES: Usaburo is the family business name. This was made by Usaburo Okamoto, who worked more with natural woods in the earlier years. He was the master and patriarch until he passed in 2009 at the age of 91.

The head is attached to a very thick rubber cord with a secret compartment inside. This also allows for the head to be in positioned at various angles if desired.

The head is made from mizuki wood (dogwood), the body is a lovely grained dark wood, maybe cherry or persimmon. The stand is carved or scalloped on all sides. The eyes and the kimono design are done burnt wood style.

The bottom is signed and has a label that is upside down. The stand is also signed on the bottom in gold.
