NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi, lot of 2

MAKER: Usaburo Okamoto

SIZE: 11-1/2" (29.2cm), combined weight 2.6 lbs.

CONDITION: Doll on the left in the picture has several dents and scratches on the head, the worst on the left side with a hole. Looks like it was used as a hammer. The doll on the right has a scratch and dent on the head.

NOTES: Usaburo is the family business name. This pair was made by Usaburo Okamoto. He was the master and patriarch until he passed in 2009 at the age of 91.

This is one of the more interesting of the Usaburo regular creations. The wood has a beautiful grain, partially carved out which becomes the design.
