NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

CONDITION: Various small dents and scratches on and about the hair and body. One larger dent on her right side.

NOTES: Usaburo is the family business name. This was made by Usaburo Okamoto, who was the master and patriarch until he passed in 2009 at the age of 91.

This is a similar doll as #73109, a little shorter, a little lighter in weight and her sleeves are wrapped around her - you do not see her obi. The name of the doll is Kantsubaki (寒椿) or literally translated means "cold camellia" (Winter camellia?). Signature board is included. The head is made from dogwood. The body is a beautiful, grainy wood. The design was done by the burnt wood technique.
