NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi, original box
MAKER: Toa Sekiguchi
SIZE: 19" (48.5cm), weight approx. 9.5 pounds in box
CONDITION: Excellent. No apparent problems. The box is tired and worn and has tape on the corners.
NOTES: Name of doll translates to "Village of Plum". The design runs all the way around the doll and is burnt wood, then painted. Hair is nicely carved. Includes original box.
Mr. Sekiguchi was born in Gunma Prefecture in 1942 and began making creative kokeshi in 1971. He is a multi award winning artist.
