NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi
MAKER: Sansaku Sekiguchi
SIZE: 14-1/2" (36.7cm)
CONDITION: Few small dents on the back of the head and overall darkening of the wood from age. The darker wood makes the red outlined flowers look faded.
NOTES: Mr. Sekiguchi was born in 1925 and is still busy creating his masterpieces. He is a multi-award winning artist which includes multiple prime minister awards. He is perhaps the most known kokeshi maker worldwide.
The doll's name is "Hanakazari" and is currently in production. The price for a 12" (29cm) is around US$180.00
