MAKER: Sadao Kishi
SIZE: 15-3/8" (39cm)

NOTES: Mr. Kishi was born in 1932 and has passed. He was a multi award winning artist. He won top prize, Prime Minister Award at least a couple of times including one for this doll in 1968.
The wheat pattern is carved.
I would consider this a "classic" kokeshi. In the early days of creative kokeshi, prize winning dolls were very popular and more affordable compared to today's winners. It's why they tend to be more readily available.
