NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi
MAKER: Not Signed but probably Hajime Miyashita*
SIZE: 6-1/8" (15.7cm)
CONDITION: Few minor to small dents on the hair. Looks like the paint has faded on the "edges" of the hair by the face. It wasn't varnished.
NOTES: *There was probably an identifying label on the bottom at one time. This is most likely Miyashita. You can compare the face to this doll that still has the label: Miyashita
There is writing on the bottom but I'm positive it is not a signature but written by the consumer. Only two of the characters of the name "Hajime" are there. Mr. Miyashita never signed this type of doll. He always used a label, maybe on earlier dolls, a stamp.
Mr. Miyashita was born in 1940 and is a multi-prize winning artist including the Prime Minister Award.
