NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi
MAKER: Muhitsu Miyajima
SIZE: 11-1/8" (28.3cm)
CONDITION: Few light scratches on the lower third of the body.
NOTES: Mr. Miyajima was born in 1929. From 1942, he studied traditional kokeshi under Kichitaro Kobayashi (Yamagata) and in the late 40's, changed to creative. Won many awards including the coveted Prime Minister's prize in 1973.
Slight variation of the classic Miyajima. Normally this doll is seen with green dots of paint on the body. This one has no color except a faint dot of red for the mouth.
Very beautiful doll.
