NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Inosuke Kobayashi

SIZE: 15-1/8" (38.7cm), weight approx 7.5 pounds

CONDITION: This is a large, heavy, stable doll. Her difficulties arise from other items hitting her.

There are some dents and dings, most are small. A short, wide dent is on the back of the head, and 3 similar on the upper back in one spot. Two flat type dents (where a larger surface hit instead of an edge). One is on her right bangs and another upper front center. There may be other things I have missed but the doll has so much going on they aren't noticeable.

She has quite a bit of scratches and scuffs (other items leaving marks or color). A few on the right side but most of these are on the left side and the back, including the head. The only scratches to note are on the back by the signature and one on the left side. These are long and a little deeper than normal.

The head is loose but still attached. Experience tells that the pieces are attached by a peg and a massive amount of glue. Often with age, the glue dries out and the pieces come apart. Eventually the head will probably come loose altogether (the vibrations during shipping won't help). Glue will be all that is need to repair.

Her face as well has the lower back head has darkened with age.

The only thing you may notice from the front are a few small white scuff marks on the body and a few scuff marks or very light scratches on her hair. She is not as bad as it sounds.

NOTES: Inosuke Kobayashi was born in 1931. He has passed but haven't been able to pinpoint the year. Multi prize winner including the coveted Prime Minister award in 1979. My information only goes to 1983.

The name of the doll is "Hanano" or Flower Fields. She is done in all burnt wood style design. A lot of detail. The top edge her kimono sleeves are carved, starting in the back (unusual) giving more of a 3D appearance and they even have design on the top.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: If postage costs are higher than paid with an order, a Paypal invoice will be issued for the difference. Cost of international shipping for this doll will range from $70.00 to over $100.00 depending on the country.
