NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi
MAKER: Satoru Iguchi
SIZE: 19" (48.5cm), diameter at the widest point is 7.25" (18.5cm), weight is over 16 pounds w box.
CONDITION: Excellent
NOTES: Includes original box. Natural wood with the only color on her lips and small circular kimono design.
Name literally translates as "Saint". Having a 3-D nose is always an indication of a higher end doll as it's more work (carved instead of lathed).
Mr. Iguchi was born 1948 and studied under Master Craftsman, Sansaku Sekiguchi. He is a multi-award winner including the Prime Minister Prize. You can find one of his dolls in the Usaburo Museum.
Mr. Iguchi's dolls are hard to find. He doesn't seem to have been as prolific as other artists.
