Kokeshi Paper Balloons, Vintage, Lot of 10
Sold
-
NAME: Vintage Japanese Paper Balloons (kami fuzen) printed w/kokeshi, lot of 10 balloons.
SIZE: 6-1/4" diameter
CONDITION: Being 35+ years old, the paper has aged a bit. Some are slightly "crispy", some have fading colors and some edges (stored folded) might have spots with disintegrating paper. It may make them a little more difficult to blow up but they will work. A little tape on any hole helps.
NOTES: Paper balloons are a traditional toy of Japan. They are bright, colorful and are quite sturdy even though they are made of paper. They can be blown up by blowing air into the hole from an inch or two away and can be batted about with your hands endlessly.
These were promotional balloons for JVC/Nivco. Nivco was the name JVC used outside of Japan until the mid 70's. This dates the balloons to at least the early 70's but I think they are from the 60's.
Paper balloons were very difficult to find even in Japan until the internet. I found one site here selling new balloons in lots of 5 with a 5" diameter for $4.99 to an 11" for $10.99.
These will mail 1st class. Any unused postage paid will be refunded.
