Kiyomizu Porcelain "Classic" Round Kokeshi Pair
Sold
Vintage Japanese Kiyomizu porcelain round kokeshi pair measuring approximately 2-1/2" and 2-3/4" tall. The body diameter of the male is 1-1/2". Fashioned after the "classic" round creative kokeshi, these are mint (new old stock) in original box.
Kiyomizu-ware (Kiyomizu-yaki) is a term for a style of porcelain made in Kyoto. Dating back hundreds of years, it's always hand painted. The bottom is marked "Shimizu" (area or port).
Probably from the 1950's, there are several different styles listed. They may have dust or dirt but they wipe clean. Most are still wrapped in their original paper, however, the paper is yellowed and fragile with age. All are in their original gift box but the boxes may be soiled or have corners split.
