NAME: Kijiyama traditional kokeshi

MAKER: Kyutaro Ogura

SIZE: 12-5/8" (32cm)

CONDITION: Excellent, however, the wood is not perfect nor is the lathing work (lathe lines) but rarely is perfection seen in any of his dolls. I don't think it was a big concern. I also read but can't confirm, that in his later years, Mr. Ogura's family would make the dolls and he would do art/painting.

NOTES: Mr. Ogura passed in 1998 at the age of 91. He was a very famous and popular artist. His dolls are still very much collected and prized.

This may have been special ordered as there is writing to the right of the artist signature.
