Keshi Ningyo, Daimyo Gyoretsu (#31116)
$80.00
Quantity Available: 2
Inventory Number: 31116
NAME: Keshi Ningyo of a Daimyo Gyoretsu mounted on a lacquered stand, cardboard gift box
SIZE: The dolls are around 5/8" tall (some variations).
The stand measures 13" long x 2-1/8".
CONDITION: Latest style, 24 figures including one on a horse, an extra horse, palanquin and signature board. COMPLETE.
Mint except for a few light scratches on the stand. Latest style I have seen and have only seen a few of these. The figures are not lined up in a row as the regular ones. Note the reflection on the lacquered finish stand. The figures do seem to be inserted through the wood but they are also glued. Box is dented and has age spots.
NOTES: During the Edo period, a law, called "Sankin Kotai" was created to help control the Daimyo (Feudal Lords). The law required every Daimyo to spend every other year in Edo (Tokyo). The travelling procession of the Daimyo household often included over 200 samurai (soldiers) and was called Daimyo Gyoretsu. With hundreds of Daimyo coming or going every year, these processions were common occurrences.
