Tiny vintage Japanese Kaga doll pulling a treasure boat with original kiri wood box. The Kaga doll is the "poor" relative of the Gosho Doll. The Gosho doll was strictly for for the imperial family - give to them or given by them as gifts. The Kaga doll was made for all. This one is mid Showa, probably 1960's or so. He is wearing a cloth bib and has the gofun (egg shell & glue) finish. There's the tiniest hairline crack just under the chin, next to the bib on the left side as seen with a magnifying glass. The stand measures 2-1/8 x 1-3/8", the box 2-9/16" x 2-1/16" high x 1-13/16" deep and has the artist stamp. The doll is sitting and is only 1-3/16" high. Sweetest face!
