NAME: Japanese ema or prayer board with a dragon representing the "Year of the Dragon", (current year, 2012)
SIZE: Height 3-3/8" (8.7cm) to the top point, 4-3/4" (12.2cm) at the longest point
CONDITION: Few scratches, dents or dings on both sides.
NOTES: Same as #30945 but an older board. The wood has darkened with age.
An ema board or prayer board is a method by which people make wishes, prayers or thanks to the dieties by writing it down on the board and hanging it at a shrine. The art work traditionally depicts the Zodiac animals, historic stories, folklore characters and stories, etc., but modern characters are also included now.
