Hot Tub Diorama, Young Ladies

Kokeshi pair of young ladies sitting in a hot tub. There are numerous onsen (hot springs) in Japan. Kokeshi used to be sold as souvenirs at resorts. That's why the subject of many of the creative kokeshi is related to the hot springs. This scene depicts two girls (only heads) in a hot tub, both wearing a towel on their head. It also includes a building in the background, a pine tree, a pair of geta (wooden footwear), a stepping stone, wash bucket and towel. The hot tub itself has a carved design, is stained and varnished. There is glue residue on the front corner of the stand where something once was. Maybe a piece of wood for a bench. The stand measures 5-1/4" x 2-1/4" and the height, not including the tree is 3-3/4".
