NAME: Creative Japanese kokeshi, stand

MAKER: Eiko Shibata

SIZE: 18" (45.5cm), combined weight without the stand is 8 lbs, 1 oz.

CONDITION: The red doll has some dents but they are mostly on the back side. The white doll has some light scratches on the right side of her head, a 1/2" dent on her left side and a few other small dents, mostly on the back. Considering the size of these dolls, they are in very good condition as normally, the bigger the doll, the harder they fall. The stand has a few light scratches.

NOTES: Can't find info on Ms. Shibata except for an old listing which said she won numerous awards.

The set's name is "Red Plum - White Plum". There was supposed to be a signature board but it didn't come in with the dolls. The board had Minister of Education award on it. As I understand, only the Prime Minister award notice can be put on any doll by a winning artist so this set must have won the prize. A picture of the board is available.

Lovely, bright and cheerful pair with the sweetest faces.
