NAME: Creative Japanese kokeshi pair

MAKER: Hashime Takahashi

SIZE: 8-1/2" & 5-7/8" (21.5 & 15cm)

CONDITION: Few very small dents on the large doll.

NOTES: Mr. Takahashi was born in 1918 and has passed. His faces are unique and easily recognizable. The eyes were his trademark. His son and grandson are continuing the family business, however, they mostly work on a different kind of folkcraft than kokeshi. None of the elder's new work is available for sale now. Buy them when you can if you like his work.

This design is one of his "classics" but may be an older one. Note, the eyes were not angled and they have lashes!!!
