NAME: Creative Japanese kokeshi pair

MAKER: Isao Sasaki

SIZE: 7" (18cm), wood stand is approx. 9-1/4" x 6-3/4"

CONDITION: The both dolls have a few minor scratches or dings. The black doll has a quarter moon shaped dent on the right lower side of the head, a smaller one under the right eye and a very small scratch on the mid front right side of the body. The fronts of both dolls are a little darker and may have been "sunburned" or simply more exposed.

NOTES: Name of pair is Ume (Plum) Kokeshi.

Includes stand and signature board.

Isao Sasaki was born Nov. 11, 1960. He has won multiple awards including an award for this pair.

The Sasaki family of makers (father and wife) have other dolls similar to this style. I have seen them referred to as Sendai dolls here, but in Japan, they are not grouped with a special name. The Sasaki's are not even in Sendai!

Still one of my favorite creative dolls - a nice classic creative example.
