NAME: Creative Japanese kokeshi of Kunisada Chuji

SIZE: 10-5/8" (27.1cm) including the stand.
CONDITION: A scratch and a few very minor dents on the face. Some of the white paint from his hat straps (sides of the head) has chipped.
NOTES: Interesting, large doll. His body is shaped like a Japanese lantern.
Kunisada Chuji (1810-50) was a yakuza (gangster) boss but it is said that he had a chivalrous spirit and was always willing to fight to help others. Chuji was called a wandering gambling boss, doing good deeds along the way. Very similar life and legends as Shimizu Jirocho.
