NAME: Creative Japanese Daruma kokeshi
MAKER: Sansaku Sekiguchi
SIZE: 6-3/4" (17cm), diameter at the largest point is 4-7/8" (12.5cm)
CONDITION: Older doll. Darkened with age. Few dents, nothing particularly troublesome. A little wear to the white paint.
NOTES: Master craftsman Sekiguchi was born in 1925 and is still busy creating his masterpieces. He is a multi-award winning artist which includes multiple prime minister awards and is one of the most known kokeshi artist worldwide.
Rare, rare, rare. I believe this is the first Daruma by Mr. Sekiguchi I've seen. Signed on the left side and a paper label on the bottom. Great doll, great find.
