Antique Japanese Doll, Merchant's Daughter
NAME: Antique Japanese doll of a merchant's daughter
AGE: Dating to Meiji Period (1868-1912) when the merchants were the wealthy class
SIZE: 8-3/4" tall and the stand, 2-7/8" x 3-1/2".
CONDITION: The hand dyed silk crepe kimono has some fading (not unexpected for a 100+ year old doll). Other than that, she is in good condition.
NOTES: She is exquisite; she is rare; she is the Merchant's Daughter.
Fine detail. Her hands are gracefully poised, her big toes are pointed up and her tongue can be seen inside her mouth! The hands and feet are carved wood and the finish is gofun (oyster shell).
