Antique Japanese Doll, Girl w/Stick Horse
$165.00
Quantity Available: 1
Inventory Number: 11019
NAME: Antique Japanese costume doll of a young lady with a stick horse.
AGE: Late Taisho/Early Showa , c1920's-30's
SIZE: 9-1/8"(23.1cm)
CONDITION: Light age soiling. She has a little hair loss in her bangs. The horse seems to be made of wood. The left ear is missing and there are several spots of bug damage where it ate through the finish. This includes the left eye, mid left side and a hole on the right side.
NOTES: Loveliest silk kimono. There are three distinct patterns woven into the fabric. One is a damask weave, the second is a simpler weave that gives the appearance of horizontal lines and the third has plain squares with gold and black vertical threads woven in. The underkimono also has a damsk weave. The color purposely is lighter on the top and darkens downwards. I have seen this on real kimono and is quite stunning. The long sleeves indicate a young, single lady. Both the kimono and underkimono are heavily padded and extra long, trailing behind her.
I have another stick horse doll in case, #11017. Vast difference 20 or 30 years makes. No comparison! In that case, you pay for the case and the freight to import it.
