Yamagata Traditional Vintage Kokeshi 9-1/4"

Yamagata style vintage kokeshi measuring 9-1/4" tall with a head diameter of 1-1/2" and a base diameter of 1-3/8". It was thought that the origin of Yamagata and Sukanami kokeshi was the same, but my friends at Kijidokoro Sato have told me that researchers have now come to believe that the origin is different. I am not 100% sure that I am categorizing these dolls into their proper family, Sakunami or Yamagata. They were originally combined as one group here. This is an older kokeshi doll and has a darkened patina from age. In very good condition except for a few pit marks on top of the head. Not signed.
