NAME: Yajiro style traditional Japanese kokeshi on Horizontal Bar
MAKER: Probably the Tsuta family, Yajiro kokeshi & toy craftsmen. A very similar one is still made today. (There are 2 characters stamped on side of stand)
SIZE: The doll is 4-3/4" (12.3cm), overall height is 6-9/16" (16.9cm), the stand is 6-7/16" (16.5cm) x 1-3/4" (4.5cm)
CONDITION: This is old dead stock but it does have storage/aging issues. Quite a bit of wood age spots on all the wood and some light soiling. There is also a water spot on the mid back.
NOTES: Just as kokeshi craftsmen, this trade is handed down from generation to generation. The Tsuta family consists of the father Sakuzou (d1957 @ 66), son/brother Mamoru (d2009 @ 81) and Fumio, who is currently in production.
The toy is called "Exercise Machine".
