NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

CONDITION: The wood shows signs of aging (dark areas) and the hair color has some fading. A dent between the eyes, several dents on the chin and double short dent mid body front on the. Few other small dents and scratches.
NOTES: Classic Kuribayashi. The green color is intact which is unusual as greens are prone to fading. The design is painted except for the kimono outline and tie, which are carved.
Mr. Kuribayashi was born in 1924 and started making creative kokeshi about 1955. He has won multiple awards including the prime minister award several times.
