Vintage set of 8 Daruma on a sake cup. The largest has arms and legs and stands 1-1/2" tall. The total height of the piece is 3" and the diameter of the sake cup is 3-1/4". The seven smaller daruma are placed in a slanted or falling position. This refers to the saying about 7 times down and 8 times up, meaning, whatever the adversity, if you fall 7 times, you get back up 8 times.
There is some soiling and a few age spots. The smaller natural daruma have a little of the whitish film from the aging of the lacquer coat. The glue also had aged and some of the pieces came off during shipping. When the right leg of the larger daruma came away from the piece, it pulled a little of the paint off. There is a very small natural flaw in the wood (knot) on the left very bottom edge.
