Narugo Traditional Kokeshi, 7"

Narugo style Japanese kokeshi measuring 7" tall with a diameter at the base of 1-5/8". Narugo dolls have a solid, secure columnar body that curves in slightly towards the middle, curved bangs with "sidelocks" (not called sideburns) and red designs radiating out from the tuft of hair atop the head. Because of a unique technique used to attach the head to the torso, these kokeshi "squeak" when the head is turned. This doll has a few watermarks on left shoulder and some paint blurring on top red flower and bottom leaves. Signed on the bottom.
