NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi w/signature board

MAKER: Takashi Yoshida

SIZE: 9-3/4" (24.7cm), diameter 5-3/4" (15cm), weight is 4-1/2 pounds

CONDITION: Few light scratches, and dings including a few along the edge of her bangs. Her face has a couple scratches on the lower left side and a small wood spot on the lower right side. The name of the doll is blurred on the sign board.

NOTES: Mr. Yoshida was born in 1948 and has passed much too soon in 2007. He started his career in kokeshi crafting "late" in life in 1978 under Insosuke Kobayashi. He won multiple awards including the Prime Minister prize. His dolls are hard to find.

The name of this doll is Tamayura (たまゆら) which I believe translates as "A Moment". Much detail on this doll using the burnt wood style. Her face has darkened with age and is a lovely color, however, it is harder to see her mouth or her blush.

This may be one of three in a series. There are two others I have seen often displayed with this one.

This doll will ship to U.S. addresses in a medium flat rate priority box. International customers: This will ship in a flat rate all over the world at a little less cost than regular priority. The price of shipping, not including insurance, is $32.95 to Canada, $47.95 to Australia and most everywhere else will be in between. An invoice will be sent to cover the difference between the international shipping cost less the U.S. shipping (which will not be of much help).
