  • Modern Creative Kokeshi, Yoshida, 10-3/4", #2

NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi with the name of "Kasugano" and signature board

MAKER: Takashi Yoshida

SIZE: 10-3/4" (27.3cm)

CONDITION: Short small dent on her chin toward the middle. Another small dent on the lower left side of her hair.

NOTES: Mr. Yoshida was born in 1948 and has passed much too soon in 2007. He started his career in kokeshi crafting "late" in life in 1978 under Insosuke Kobayashi. He won multiple awards including the Prime Minister prize.

His dolls are extremely hard to find and very expensive when you find them. Six years ago, this exact doll was listed elsewhere for $745.00. Assuming it sold as it hasn't been seen again. I had one three years ago that went for more than this!

The characters in the name "Kasugano" stand for "Spring", "Day" and "Field". In 1983 this doll won the Prize of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry & Fishery at the All Japan Kokeshi Contest.

A lot of work went into creating this doll. The background is all carved tiny scoops, burnt wood design and then painted. She's a beauty. Don't miss!

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Shipping on this doll will cost up to US$66 or US$46 over the US shipping (n/c). Please contact us with intent to buy so that it can be packed, weighed and the extra shipping charges added to the doll BEFORE the purchase is made.
