NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Usaburo

SIZE: 4-7/8" (12.5cm)

CONDITION: Multiple small dents on the left side and a short deeper dent on the very bottom back. Some light scratches and a small indentation on the top of the head (manufacture flaw). Looks also like a hairline crack on the top of the head as the varnish is raised along the line (lighter in color) and has a few chips.

NOTES: Usaburo is the family business name. Probably made by Usaburo Okamoto. (It is signed on lower left side). He was the master and patriarch until he passed in 2009 at the age of 91.

The butterfly design is carved and the kimono outline and hair has burnt wood lines.
