NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Masashi Takeda (doll is not signed but name of the doll and maker are on the box label).

SIZE: 4-3/4" (12.3cm)

CONDITION: Mint in box. The stain on the hair has faded in spots with the years). The box may show age, rusted staples, worn corners, etc.

NOTES: Mr. Takeda's dolls are always worthwhile owning. They are not readily available. His dolls are left natural with stains and uses only hints of colors. This doll is dark stained with a gloss varnish. It is not painted. The same doll but 2" taller sold recently for $62 including shipping from Japan so he is not inexpensive.

Takeda's dolls are also very creative. He made the kumitake or put together doll. (Doll almost like a puzzle. You can change the positions of the pieces to get a different look). I've also seen an outstanding brand new doll with a shawl that will cost over $1,000 shipped from Japan.
