NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

CONDITION: Great!

There are natural wood and manufacture flaws, however. These include tiny bubbles in the finish where the hair turns under, one on the right side, mutliple on the left. There is a very small knot on the left side that is lifting out and there are two others that are not quite level which may eventually rise up. The grain of the wood is not totally smooth so it gives the doll an added texture but on the left side of the hair is a spot that is heavily grooved. Because there is so much surface, the spot looks black.

NOTES: The rice design is carved. I believe the body and hair is cherry wood, with the head made of dogwood. The doll looks black (painted) in the picture but is simply dark stained. With heavy graining, the wood is gorgeous.
