NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi, original box

MAKER: Shido Shouzan

SIZE: 18-7/8" (48cm)

CONDITION: New old stock. They are basically mint but age has it's way with everything.

Doll 1: Some very small, light wood age spots around the nose. Additional spots below the neckline and on the obi (belt). This is the pictured doll.

Doll 2: Not available

Doll 3: Small wood age spots across the whole chin.

NOTES: Mr. Shouzan was born in 1932. He started kokeshi crafting in 1959. Multi prize winning artist including the Prime Minister Prize. Known worldwide, he has had multiple exhibits in Japan as well as internationally.

Great opportunity to get a good example of a classic Shouzan. FYI: Had the same doll but with the little carved ovals which sold for $369.00 four years ago. Last year, the same carved doll (larger size) sold for $699 elsewhere.
