NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

SIZE: 24.5" (62.5cm) weight: 4.94 pounds
CONDITION: Some dents and scratches (a few on the face) but for the size of the doll, there is nothing traumatic. The wood has some age spotting and there are multiple hairline cracks at the top of the kimono. This is common in this style doll as the heavier head must put added stress on the thinner wood underneath. Her bun is so large it was attached with a peg and the peg had broken in transit. It has been glued back in place, but if it should come off again, replacing the peg may be a good idea.
NOTES: This is the largest kokeshi I have had in inventory. Shipping her from Japan would have cost about $80 air or $59 SAL.
*Was not able to I.D. the signature stamp, however, this is very much Mr. Sato's style, i.e. 3d carved kimono, stained wood section mid-body, dark and light hair strands, bang strands and lovely floral art work (studied under an artist). I will call it his unless I find out otherwise.
SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT PRICES: The U.S. dollar is again near it's weakest point in history versus the yen. This has had big impact on my site. Two to three years ago, this doll would have been listed at $155.00. Now the price is around $200. Worse yet, the dollar has weakened since, and if she came in today, the price would be $210.00. It is making it difficult to try to remain competitive. Hope you can understand why the escalating prices.
