NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi
MAKER: Muhitsu Miyajima
SIZE: 2-7/8" (7.5cm), diameter 4-1/2" (11.7cm), weight 14oz
CONDITION: Two short wide dents along the chin, scratch on the right forehead.
NOTES: Mr. Miyajima was born in 1929. From 1942, he studied traditional kokeshi under Kichitaro Kobayashi (Yamagata) and in the late 40's, changed to creative. Won many awards including the coveted Prime Minister's prize in 1973.
The name of doll is Ikoi (憩い) or "rest". Signature board included.
