  • Modern Creative Kokeshi, Kobayashi, 15-3/8" Modern Creative Kokeshi, Kobayashi, 15-3/8"

NAME: Modern creative Japanese kokeshi

MAKER: Inosuke Kobayashi

SIZE: 15-3/8" (38.8cm), weight is 4.5 pounds

CONDITION: Since the picture was taken, the doll was waxed/oiled and looks much better. The marks and scratches you see on the hair have mostly disappeared for now. They will come back. I have added a picture after the waxing/oiling.

The whitish film is either excessive varnish or defective varnish that is discoloring with age. On her bangs are three small deep scratches that went down to the wood as well as several other scratches. There is a scratch on her face with a spot of green paint. Few dents and scratches on the body but really hard to notice because of the design.

NOTES: Inosuke Kobayashi was born in 1931 and has passed. Multi prize winner including the coveted Prime Minister award in 1979. My information only goes to 1983.

I have released #72615 back in inventory. She was the original Girl. You can compare the differences. Her name is "Hidamari" or "Sunny Place". I am not sure if this doll also has the same name as there are many differences.

The pig tails are different, the design has leaves, and a different style of posture. The sleeves are three dimensional as well as the face and bangs.

Most of the design is done by burnt wood and lots of it.

How really cute she is - more like adorable!

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Shipping on this doll will cost up to US$70 or US$40 over the US shipping cost (n/c). Please contact us with intent to buy so that it can be packed, weighed and the extra shipping charges added to the doll BEFORE the purchase is made.
